PSG Agrees to Sign Mika Godts for €55m—A New Era in Attack
Paris Saint-Germain have moved aggressively to reshape their attack, reaching a verbal agreement with Ajax to sign highly rated winger Mika Godts in a deal worth €55m (£46.9m).
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on X that PSG have a verbal pact in place with the Dutch club after submitting a new official bid, though the paperwork is still to be completed. The Belgian’s arrival, once formalised, will be part of a broader attacking overhaul in Paris.
Godts and Ferran Torres to headline PSG’s new-look frontline
Godts is set to join Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, with PSG closing in on a separate deal for the Spaniard. Taken together, the two signings point to a clear strategy: flood the wide areas with fresh talent and reset the pecking order in Luis Enrique’s squad.
The consequence feels obvious. With Godts and Torres poised to walk through the door, Bradley Barcola is edging closer to the exit.
PSG’s stance has been firm so far. The French champions value Barcola at around £145m, a figure that has loomed large over negotiations. Yet with reinforcements secured in advance, the pressure to keep the 21-year-old has eased. The club can now afford to listen more seriously to offers.
Liverpool circle as Barcola talks continue
Liverpool have positioned themselves carefully in the background. The Premier League side have held regular talks with PSG this week as they explore a move for Barcola, and the timing of PSG’s agreement for Godts only sharpens the sense that a breakthrough could be close.
Liverpool are understood to value Barcola at around £100m. That leaves a sizeable gap to PSG’s ideal price, but the dynamics are shifting. Once Godts and Torres are officially confirmed, PSG will be carrying an even more crowded frontline. At that point, compromise starts to look less like a concession and more like smart business.
The Merseyside club are also keeping tabs on Ibrahim Mbaye, the 18-year-old PSG talent, though any move there remains at the level of interest rather than an imminent deal.
Time pressure builds on Liverpool
There is a clock ticking at Anfield. Liverpool face Newcastle away in nine days, and any major signing arriving after that will have missed the bulk of pre-season integration. That matters for a young forward expected to slot into a high-intensity system.
Even so, Liverpool’s transfer team, led by Richard Hughes, appear to have anticipated PSG’s attacking shake-up. With Godts and Torres close to being secured in Paris, the expectation is that talks over Barcola will accelerate.
For PSG, the equation is simple: cash in on a valuable asset to help balance a summer of heavy investment, or dig in and risk holding an unsettled player behind a new wave of arrivals.
