PSG Targets Ajax Starlet Mika Godts as Barcola Exit Approaches
Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks with Ajax over highly rated winger Mika Godts, with the French champions moving quickly to reshape their attack ahead of a pivotal summer.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations are underway between the clubs, with PSG stepping up their interest after already closing in on Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco, having beaten Liverpool to the Frenchman's signature. The message from Paris is clear: the forward line is being rebuilt, and fast.
Ajax dig in, but Godts says yes
Godts has emerged as PSG’s next major attacking target, yet this is no straightforward raid on Amsterdam. Ajax are determined to keep the Belgian, who has just delivered a breakout season and is central to their plans.
The player, though, is already leaning towards Paris. The right-footed attacker has reportedly given his agreement to join PSG after what have been described as “direct positive talks” with the club’s transfer chief Luis Campos. The green light from Godts turns the spotlight firmly on Ajax: hold their ground or cash in on one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards.
Barcola on his way, Liverpool waiting
The move for Godts comes against the backdrop of Bradley Barcola’s likely departure. The Frenchman has informed PSG he will not extend his current deal, which runs until 2028, a stance that has effectively pushed the club towards a sale while his market value remains high.
Liverpool are currently in pole position for Barcola’s signature and are expected to submit their opening bid in the coming days. If the deal goes through, Luis Enrique will lose a key attacking option and a natural left-sided outlet, forcing PSG to act decisively in the market.
That is where Godts fits in.
A left flank rebuilt
Godts operates primarily from the left wing, driving inside on his stronger right foot, but he can also slot in as an attacking midfielder. His versatility ticks several boxes for Enrique, who demands fluidity and rotation across the front line.
The Belgian has already built a reputation for blistering pace, tight close control and sharp creativity in the final third, with a finishing touch that has inevitably drawn comparisons with former Chelsea star Eden Hazard. Those comparisons are heavy, but his numbers last season back up the hype.
Across all competitions, the 21-year-old scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists in 44 games, a return that propelled him into the spotlight across Europe’s scouting departments.
His performances were rewarded in style: Godts was voted 2025/26 Eredivisie Talent of the Year, edging out other standout youngsters, including AZ midfielder Kees Smit, himself linked with several major clubs.
A statement swing in the market
For PSG, landing Godts after securing Akliouche and potentially losing Barcola would be more than just a like-for-like replacement. It would underline a deliberate shift towards high-ceiling, early-peak talent rather than short-term, superstar fixes.
Ajax, though, are not in the habit of rolling over when Europe’s elite come calling. They have a prized asset under contract and a clear sporting argument to keep him at the centre of their rebuild.
