PSG Abandons Zion Suzuki Transfer Deal After Agent Demand
What looked like a done deal for Zion Suzuki has blown up for the second time in a matter of days.
After Juventus pulled out of a loan move last week, Paris Saint-Germain have now also walked away from an agreement to buy the Parma goalkeeper, leaving one of Europe’s most talked‑about young keepers in limbo.
The French champions had lined up a €35m package, including add-ons, to sign the Japan international from Parma and then immediately loan him to Juventus for the coming season. It was a neat three‑club puzzle on paper: Parma cash in, PSG secure a long‑term No.1 option, Juve get their keeper for the here and now.
Then the delays started.
Juventus, irritated by how long the operation was dragging on and unhappy with some of the terms, abandoned the loan plan and switched to alternative targets. That alone was a twist. The expectation was that PSG would simply proceed anyway and park Suzuki elsewhere.
Instead, the whole structure has collapsed.
According to multiple reports, including Fabrice Hawkins and Fabrizio Romano, PSG were ready to close. Documents were prepared, a medical was being lined up for today, and the Ligue 1 side were on the brink of finalising the transfer.
At that point, the mood changed.
Suzuki’s agents are reported to have made a last‑minute additional request as the final details were being settled. The demand infuriated the PSG hierarchy, who responded not by negotiating, but by walking away from the table altogether.
The French club have now withdrawn from talks and, by all accounts, have no intention of reopening them.
That decision unexpectedly reopens a narrow door for Juventus. With PSG out, the Bianconeri could, in theory, try to go straight to Parma and structure a deal of their own for Suzuki. The problem is the same as before: the cost of the operation, both in fee and overall package.
For now, one of Serie A’s standout young goalkeepers, who has impressed for Parma and with Japan, finds himself at the centre of a transfer saga that keeps unravelling just when it seems ready to be signed off.
The next move belongs to Juventus and Parma.
