Plymouth Dominates Barnsley 3-0 in League One Clash
Plymouth surged into the Sky Bet League One play-off places with a ruthless 3-0 dismantling of Barnsley at Home Park, climbing to sixth after a night that crackled from the very first whistle.
The game was barely underway when on-loan Tottenham winger Oli Irow lit the place up. One minute on the clock. One touch to control, another to devastate.
Julio Pleguezuelo fizzed a ball out to the left, Irow darted onto it, drove straight at Tyrese Noslin, chopped inside and unleashed a vicious right-foot strike. Rogan Ravenhill flung himself at it, but the ball screamed past him and into the top corner. Barnsley were stunned. Plymouth were flying.
For a spell, Barnsley steadied. Noslin almost made immediate amends midway through the half, seizing on a loose ball just inside the box as Argyle tried to clear. He caught it sweetly, lashing a low effort inches wide of the post. It was their moment. It went begging.
The punishment arrived almost instantly.
On 22 minutes, a long, arcing throw from Argyle captain Wes Harding caused chaos. Ravenhill came to claim but couldn’t hold on. The ball spilled, the goal gaped, and Ronan Curtis reacted first, nodding into an empty net. A simple header, a brutal blow.
Curtis nearly buried Barnsley before the break. His looping header had Ravenhill beaten, only for Connor O'Riordan to race back and hook the ball off the line. It kept the scoreline respectable, not the contest alive.
Any lingering hope Barnsley had vanished five minutes after the restart. This time it was Bim Pepple’s turn to torment O'Riordan.
Receiving the ball on the left side of the area, the Argyle striker rolled his marker with a sharp spin, opened his body and curled a precise finish into the far corner. Clinical, composed, and 3-0.
From there, Plymouth controlled, Barnsley chased shadows, and the home crowd settled into the comfort of a statement win.
