Omar Marmoush Set for Tottenham Move from Manchester City
Omar Marmoush is on the brink of swapping Manchester blue for north London white, with his move from Manchester City to Tottenham Hotspur now in its final stretch.
The Egypt international said his goodbyes at City today after being granted permission to undergo a medical with Spurs, a key step before the deal is officially sealed.
Loan now, £50m later
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Marmoush is already preparing for those medical tests, the last major hurdle before he pulls on a Tottenham shirt. Spurs will take him on loan from City, with an obligation to buy for £50 million, plus £10 million in add-ons. Of that extra £10m, £5m is guaranteed.
The 25-year-old is expected to sign a four-year contract, with an option for a further season. Eintracht Frankfurt, the club that sold him to City, will not receive a percentage of any future resale, as that clause is not part of the agreement.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has backed up those details, stating that Marmoush is set to sign for Spurs on Thursday, provided everything goes to plan.
From promise at Frankfurt to a crowded City attack
Marmoush only arrived at Manchester City in January 2025, coming in from Eintracht Frankfurt after a prolific spell in the Bundesliga convinced City he was ready for the Premier League. The move looked like a natural next step for a forward on the rise.
But he never truly established himself as a guaranteed starter. City’s attack, stacked with high-level options, left him fighting for minutes rather than leading the line. The numbers tell the story: eight goals last season, yet only 16 starts across all competitions.
For a striker in his prime years, that was never going to be enough. The search for regular game time pushed him towards the exit, and Tottenham moved quickly to take advantage.
Spurs’ rebuild gathers more pace
Talks between City and Spurs accelerated in recent days. English reports had already outlined the framework: a loan with a £50m buy clause that becomes obligatory once certain conditions are met. Those negotiations have now crystallised into a near-complete agreement, pending the medical and final paperwork.
This is not an isolated move but part of a lavish Tottenham rebuild. The club has already spent more than £300 million this summer after a dismal 17th-place finish in the Premier League last season. They have already wrapped up a deal for Brazilian winger Savinho from City for £75m plus £10m in add-ons; now Marmoush is set to follow the same path down the M6.
For Roberto De Zerbi, the picture is clear. Tottenham’s attack has stuttered at the start of the campaign, and he wants sharper movement, more direct threat, more goals. Marmoush, with his energy, pressing, and eye for goal, fits that brief.
All that stands between him and a fresh start in north London is a medical. Pass that, sign the contract, and Marmoush’s second attempt to conquer the Premier League begins – this time as a central figure, not a supporting act.
