Nottingham Forest Sign Liam Delap for Record £50m

Nottingham Forest have smashed their transfer record to land Liam Delap from Chelsea in a deal that could rise to £50m.

Forest have agreed to pay at least £45m for the striker, with performance-related add-ons taking the total fee up to the club-record figure. Delap is booked in for a medical on Wednesday as the move edges towards completion.

The 21-year-old had drawn interest from several Premier League sides, including Everton, but Forest have won the race for his signature and are now set to build their attack around him.

Chelsea only brought Delap in last summer from Ipswich Town for £30m and had been valuing him at around £50m during this window. On the numbers alone, the London club have banked a sizeable profit: around £15m after a season in which Delap scored two goals in 41 appearances.

For Forest, this is a statement swing in the market. Their previous record outlay was the £37.5m paid to Ipswich Town for Omari Hutchison in August 2025. Now they have gone well beyond that to secure a striker they believe can grow into the role and repay the fee.

The price tag is heavy. The expectation at the City Ground will be even heavier.
