Mohamed Salah Shines with Brace in Trabzonspor Victory

Mohamed Salah wasted no time announcing himself in Turkey, hitting a decisive brace as Trabzonspor edged Istanbul Basaksehir 2-1.

The former Liverpool star, who signed a two-year deal with the Super Lig club at the start of August, was handed his first start on Sunday after coming off the bench in last week’s 1-1 draw at Kasimpasa. This time, he didn’t wait around.

Eight minutes in, Salah struck. A sharp move, a clinical finish, and Trabzonspor’s new No. 11 had his first goal in their colours, setting the tone for a game that quickly opened up.

Basaksehir hit back. In the 19th minute, Eldor Shomurodov stepped up from the penalty spot and calmly slotted in the equaliser, dragging the visitors level and briefly silencing the home crowd.

The restart flipped the mood again.

Just three minutes into the second half, Salah restored Trabzonspor’s lead, capping another incisive attack to complete his brace and underline exactly why the club moved for him this summer. From there, his two goals proved enough. Trabzonspor managed the game, protected their advantage, and saw out a first league win of the season with their new talisman front and centre.

Next up is a Super Lig clash with Amed SK on August 31. On this evidence, all eyes will be on Salah again.
