Milan Pursue Zakaria El Ouahdi as New Right-Back

Milan have turned their attention to Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahdi as they search for a new right-back this summer, placing the Genk defender high on their shortlist.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the club are actively studying a move for the 23-year-old to replace Atekami, who is close to sealing a transfer to Olympique Lyon. With that departure looming, the right side of Milan’s defence is about to open up – and El Ouahdi’s name keeps coming back to the table.

Born in 2001, the full-back has already attracted strong interest elsewhere. PSV Eindhoven tracked him earlier in the window, with several reports in the Netherlands linking coach Peter Bosz to a possible move for the Moroccan as he looked to refresh his options on the flank.

Genk, though, are not treating him as a bargain opportunity. The Belgian side value El Ouahdi at between 13 and 15 million euros and are standing firm on that price. For now, they show no sign of softening their stance or rushing into a sale.

Milan have not yet submitted an official bid, but the intent around the player is described as concrete. Should the Rossoneri decide to meet Genk’s demands, El Ouahdi could follow a familiar path this summer.

Konstantinos Karetsas has already made the leap from Genk to the European elite, joining Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth around 35 million euros.

El Ouahdi now waits to see if Milan will turn strong interest into a decisive move of their own.
