Marc Casadó: Premier League Clubs Eye Barcelona Midfielder

Marc Casadó is fast becoming one of the most talked-about midfielders on the market – and he hasn’t even kicked a ball in the Premier League yet.

The Barcelona youngster, out of Hansi Flick’s first-team plans at the Spotify Camp Nou, is drawing serious attention from England as the new season approaches. According to Mundo Deportivo, via TEAMtalk, no fewer than five Premier League clubs have made moves to understand his situation.

And there is already a frontrunner.

Nottingham Forest are described as the most determined suitors, pushing hardest to bring the 22-year-old to the City Ground. They are not alone. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton and Sunderland are all credited with an interest, forming a crowded queue for a player who has barely had a chance to establish himself in Barça’s senior side.

Barcelona, for their part, see an opportunity. With Casadó surplus to requirements under Flick, the club are hopeful of banking around €40 million from his sale – a significant fee for a midfielder still waiting for a sustained top-flight platform.

For much of the summer, Saudi Arabia looked like his likeliest destination. The money is there, the interest is real. Casadó, though, wants something different. The midfielder is understood to be keen to remain in one of Europe’s top five leagues, a stance that has only encouraged English clubs to step up their efforts.

So the picture is clear. Barcelona are ready to sell. The Premier League is circling. Nottingham Forest lead the chase, but the pack behind is strong.

Where Casadó chooses to land next will say plenty about his ambition – and about which English club is prepared to gamble €40 million on Barcelona’s overlooked midfielder.
