Liverpool in Talks to Sign Bradley Barcola as PSG Freezes Him Out
Bradley Barcola has been cut from all Paris Saint-Germain match-day squads while the club thrashes out his future, with Liverpool now in talks to sign the winger.
The 21-year-old featured in PSG’s early plans this summer, but his omission from the group that faced Lens in the Trophee des Champions underlined how far things have moved. He had been involved against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, then vanished from the next team sheet. The message from the club has since been made crystal clear.
Luis Enrique will not call on Barcola again until the transfer saga is resolved, according to multiple reports. The coach wants a dressing room fully locked in on the season ahead, not one eye on the pitch and the other on the market.
That stance has been made easier by PSG’s recruitment drive. Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts are all arriving, effectively covering the wide attacking roles and squeezing Barcola’s pathway. With his position already filled on paper, the club sees little sense in using him while negotiations are active.
There is another layer to the decision: risk. PSG are understood to value Barcola at more than £130m, and any injury at this stage could jeopardise one of the biggest outgoing deals in their recent history. With Liverpool now pushing to reach an agreement, the French champions are protecting both the asset and the balance sheet.
The mood around the talks is optimistic. Signals from both sides suggest Liverpool and PSG believe a deal can be struck this week, which would hand Jürgen Klopp’s side a major attacking reinforcement and draw a line under a summer of uncertainty for the player.

Barcola’s situation also fits into a wider reset under Luis Enrique. His selections for the Trophee des Champions offered a clear glimpse of his hierarchy for the new campaign, underlining who he trusts and who sits on the fringes.
Not everything has gone to plan, though. The move for goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who was expected to arrive from Parma, collapsed at the last moment. What had looked like a done deal fell apart, leaving PSG back at square one in their search for a new No. 1.
