Liverpool Delay on Barcola Transfer as PSG Sticks to £145m Price

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has hit the brakes. Not because they’ve lost interest – far from it – but because Paris Saint-Germain are refusing to budge.

According to L'Équipe, talks between the clubs are at a standstill, with Liverpool stepping back from negotiations after PSG slapped a price tag of around £145m on the France international. The Reds see the 23-year-old as a priority addition to sharpen their attack, yet they are refusing to go anywhere near that figure.

PSG’s stance is clear. Liverpool’s is even clearer.

Barcola, formerly of Lyon and now into a crucial phase of his career in Paris, is not willing to sign a new deal at the Parc des Princes. He would be open to a move to Anfield, a detail that only adds intrigue to a transfer battle now being played out in slow motion.

The stalemate comes at a time of change in the French capital. Les Parisiens are closing in on two attacking signings: Ferran Torres, 25, and Mika Godts, 21. With fresh forwards on the way, the question hangs in the air – how long can PSG realistically hold out for their full asking price?

Liverpool think they know the answer.

Rather than chase PSG’s valuation now, the Merseyside club have decided to wait. The plan, as reported, is to move in the final 10 days of the window, when the market tightens, pressure rises and negotiating positions soften. Liverpool will hope that by then the UEFA Champions League winners are ready to compromise on the fee for the 23-year-old.

For the moment, the deal is on pause. The clock, though, is about to become Liverpool’s biggest ally – or their harshest judge.
