Ligue 1 Predictions Round 2: Lille Faces PSG
The predictions battle is back for the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season, and after the opening round, there’s already a gap on the board. Luke Entwistle leads with 5 points. Bastien Cheval chases on 3.
Three points for a perfect scoreline, two for the right goal difference, one for simply calling the result. Over a long season, those margins can sting.
And the first big swing of Round 2 might well come in the north.
Game of the Week: Lille OSC v Paris Saint-Germain
Friday, 19:45 (UK)
Seven days. That’s all Paris Saint-Germain have had to turn the mood.
Luis Enrique’s side were pinned back by Stade Rennais in their opener and needed a second-half brace from Ferran Torres just to escape with a point. The performance screamed “short pre-season” – heavy legs, loose touches, a side still searching for rhythm. The opposition didn’t exactly offer them a gentle start either.
Now comes another demanding away trip, this time to Lille, another club with serious ambitions of crashing the Champions League places. Different venue, same level of jeopardy.
PSG arrive without Ousmane Dembélé, a major creative outlet stripped from Enrique’s attacking arsenal. Lille have their own headache. Matias Fernandez-Pardo won’t feature while his transfer saga rumbles on, and his absence leaves a sizeable hole. Ayoubb Bouaddi has already gone, but that exit was expected and Lille have mentally moved on.
What they showed on the opening weekend under Davide Ancelotti was calm control. A 2-0 win over SCO Angers, achieved without ever needing to hit top gear. Efficient, composed, almost casual.
This, though, is a different level of examination. Ancelotti Jr. remains unproven at the very top, and facing PSG in just his second league match is as big as early-season tests come. Handle this, and the noise around Lille’s ceiling this year will grow quickly.
Both Luke and Bastien see the same script unfolding: Lille competitive, PSG just too sharp when it matters.
Prediction
Luke: Lille 1-2 PSG
Bastien: Lille 1-2 PSG
Luke’s Ligue 1 Predictions – Round 2
- Strasbourg 1-3 Lens
- Auxerre 1-0 Angers
- Brest 0-1 Toulouse
- Lyon 2-1 Le Havre
- Lorient 0-0 Troyes
- Paris FC 1-0 Nice
- Rennes 4-0 Le Mans
- Monaco 2-0 Marseille
Luke leans into strong home wins for Rennes and Monaco, and expects Lens to flex away at Strasbourg.
Bastien’s Ligue 1 Predictions – Round 2
- Strasbourg 1-3 Lens
- Auxerre 0-0 Angers
- Brest 1-0 Toulouse
- Lorient 1-0 Troyes
- Lyon 2-1 Le Havre
- Paris FC 0-1 Nice
- Rennes 3-1 Le Mans
- Monaco 2-2 Marseille
Bastien mirrors Luke on Strasbourg v Lens and Lyon v Le Havre, but sees more resistance from Angers and Marseille, and backs Nice to edge it in Paris.
The margins are already thin. One late goal in Lille, one twist at the Vélodrome, and this predictions duel could look very different by Monday morning.
