  A menace. Claimed Leeds’ second goal via a deflection, adding to his strike at Brighton, and could have had more. Twice drew big saves from Lukas Hornicek before the ball finally went in off him. Constantly on the front foot, constantly dangerous.
• Anton Stach – 7
  Set the tone inside 32 seconds by forcing a corner and never really let Newcastle breathe. Drove Leeds on in midfield, even if he will regret passing up a good chance to get on the scoresheet himself.

  The organiser. Barked instructions, demanded intensity and ensured Leeds kept hunting for more rather than sitting on their lead. Unlucky to see a fierce strike blocked by Calvert-Lewin of all people.

  His opener took two hefty deflections, but he earned his luck by stepping up and pulling the trigger. Looked much closer to his best, snapping into challenges and knitting play, though one loose pass could have been costly.
• Gabriel Gudmundsson – 7
  Played like an out-and-out winger from wing-back. Drove at Newcastle down the left, stretched the pitch and repeatedly forced them onto the back foot.
• Noah Okafor – 8
  Sharp and decisive. Showed composure to pull the ball back for Tanaka’s strike for the first goal, then hammered home a fine fourth to cap Leeds’ night. His movement constantly unsettled Newcastle’s back line.
• Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 9
  This fixture belongs to him. Bullied Newcastle’s centre-backs from the first whistle, his trademark header leading to Bogle’s goal for the second, before he showed his poacher’s instincts with a cool finish on the deck for the third. That makes it eight goals against Newcastle – more than he has scored against any other club. Unplayable at times.

  Rushed back from a hamstring issue and it showed. Leeds repeatedly targeted his side and he struggled to stem the tide before being withdrawn.
• Malick Thiaw – 3
  Given the armband for the night but never imposed himself. Beaten too easily by Calvert-Lewin for the second, left punching the turf in frustration after the striker beat him again for the third, and then failed to shut down Okafor for the fourth. A chastening evening.
• Sven Botman – 3
  Overrun and overpowered. Could not live with Calvert-Lewin’s movement or physicality and was exposed badly for Leeds’ second goal. One of his most uncomfortable nights in a Newcastle shirt.

  Dragged out of position in the build-up to Leeds’ second and never quite recovered his shape. A disappointing outing on the day he celebrated a new contract.
