Karim Adeyemi Shines in Barcelona Debut with Goal
Karim Adeyemi wasted no time announcing himself at Barcelona.
Handed his first start by Hansi Flick against Elche, the summer signing from Borussia Dortmund marked his full debut with a goal, slotting straight into an attack that already looks sharper and more fluid than it did last season.
The night belonged to the new forward line.
Raphinha, wearing the armband as Barcelona’s new club captain, struck first to open the scoring, then turned creator. Just before half-time, he slipped the ball across for Adeyemi, who timed his run and finish to perfection to cap an impressive first start.
Lamine Yamal was heavily involved too, knitting moves together on the right and linking smoothly with both wide men. For Flick, still reshaping his front three after a summer of exits and arrivals, the understanding between Raphinha, Yamal and Adeyemi offered exactly the kind of early evidence he wanted.
One start, one goal, and the sense that Barcelona’s revamped attack might be coming together faster than expected.
