Juventus Sign Guglielmo Vicario on Long-Term Loan from Tottenham

Juventus have finally found their new goalkeeper – and it’s a familiar face for Serie A. Guglielmo Vicario has arrived from Tottenham, the club confirming on Tuesday that the Italian joins on loan until 30 June 2027.

It’s a strikingly long loan, a clear sign that Juventus see Vicario as more than a stopgap. According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the deal includes an option to buy set at 10 million euros including bonuses, giving the Bianconeri a defined path to make the move permanent.

For Vicario, it’s a return home after two intense seasons in England. Tottenham picked him up in 2023, and he quickly established himself as a mainstay in London, racking up 117 appearances and helping the club lift the Europa League in the 2024/25 campaign. Now, after European silverware and Premier League scrutiny, he lands in Turin with a different kind of pressure: anchoring a Juventus side rebuilding its core.

This journey has been anything but overnight. Born in 1996, Vicario came through the Udinese youth academy before grinding his way up through Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari and Empoli. It was at Empoli that he truly announced himself, making 69 Serie A appearances and earning a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable shot-stoppers.

That body of work earned him the move abroad. Now it earns him a second chance in Italy, this time in the black and white of Juventus.

The Turin club did not arrive at Vicario without exploring other avenues. Reports in recent weeks linked them strongly with Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez and Japan international Zion Suzuki. Those pursuits faded. The Italian became the solution.

Juventus now have their man. Vicario has his stage. The only question left is whether this long loan ends as a brief chapter or the start of a new era in goal in Turin.
