Jérémy Doku Signs New Five-Year Contract with Manchester City
Jérémy Doku has committed his future to Manchester City, signing a new five-year contract that runs until 2031, with an option for an extra year, the club have confirmed.
The winger, who turned 24 this summer, becomes the latest pillar in City’s long-term rebuild to lock himself in. He follows Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov in agreeing extended terms during a busy close season at the Etihad.
Doku’s first full campaign under Pep Guardiola underlined why City were so keen to tie him down. He made 47 appearances in all competitions last season and finished with eight goals, his direct running and one‑v‑one threat giving City a different attacking edge across domestic and European fronts.
Reijnders talks with Al-Qadsiah
While one key piece stays, another could be on the move.
Sources have told ESPN that City are in negotiations with Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah over a deal for midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. No agreement has been reached yet, but discussions are ongoing over a package worth more than £50 million.
Reijnders only arrived at City last summer from Milan for £46.5m and, like Doku, featured 47 times in all competitions in his debut season. His potential departure would represent a swift turnaround for a player who quickly became a regular in Guardiola’s rotation.
City are not planning to leave any holes in midfield. According to sources, the club intend to replace any midfielder who leaves before the transfer deadline, with contingency work already under way behind the scenes.
Rodri and Barcelona: a growing inevitability?
The bigger storm, though, is gathering around Rodri.
Inside the club, there is a growing acceptance that the Spain international will move to Barcelona. The Catalan side have already seen a second bid of £55m rejected, with City valuing the midfielder at more than £60m despite him having just one year left on his contract.
For now, City are holding their line on the fee. Barcelona are pushing. The clock is ticking.
