Inter Cash in on Matteo Motta Transfer

Inter have moved on one of their own and immediately turned to another Italian talent abroad – only to run into a firm “no” from Germany.

The Nerazzurri have officially sold Matteo Motta to Pescara, completing a permanent deal with the Serie C side after the left-back’s loan spell at Lumezzane. Motta, 21, came through Inter’s academy but never made a competitive appearance for the first team.

Inter have protected themselves on the deal. They retained 50 per cent of any future sell-on fee, a clear sign they still believe the full-back could grow in value away from San Siro.

While Motta packs his bags for Abruzzo, Inter’s gaze is fixed on the Bundesliga.

According to Bild in Germany, the club have again contacted Borussia Dortmund to ask about the availability of Luca Reggiani, the highly rated 18-year-old central defender. Inter’s interest is not new, but their pursuit has sharpened as Reggiani’s stock has risen.

Reggiani, a product of the Sassuolo youth academy, left Italy for Dortmund in February 2024. The move has paid off handsomely. He has flourished in Germany, breaking through to the point that he earned a senior Italy cap in June 2026, still only 18.

That rapid rise explains Dortmund’s stance. The report indicates little optimism for Inter: Dortmund want to keep their Italian prospect and have recently underlined that by extending his contract.

Inter have secured a future slice of any Motta move. Reggiani, though, looks set to remain locked behind Dortmund’s yellow wall for now.
