Inter Milan Nears £30m Deal for Liverpool’s Curtis Jones

Inter Milan are moving to the brink of a deal for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, with a fee of around 35m euros (£30m) now expected to seal his exit from Anfield.

Liverpool knocked back a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) from the Italian champions in June, holding firm to a valuation closer to £35m for the 25-year-old, who is into the final year of his contract. That stance has dragged Inter higher. The current understanding is that a package worth £30m should be enough to bring agreement.

Sources in Italy believe a verbal agreement between the clubs is already in place. Both sides, though, are still working through the finer details before anything is signed off.

Liverpool are prepared to cash in on Jones and want a deal that mirrors the £30m package Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence. That move has effectively set the benchmark for negotiations.

Inter’s interest is not new. They tried to prise Jones away in January with a loan offer that included an option to buy, only for Liverpool to reject the proposal and keep him for the remainder of the season.

Jones has been a long-serving member of the Liverpool squad, making 228 appearances since his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. He remained heavily involved last season, featuring 49 times in all competitions, but his status slipped under Arne Slot. Just 18 of those outings came as Premier League starts, and he struggled to nail down a permanent place in a crowded midfield.

Now, with one year left on his deal and Inter pushing hard, Liverpool look ready to draw a line under his time at Anfield at a price they can live with.
