Inter Milan Closing in on Curtis Jones Deal Worth £30m

Inter Milan are edging closer to a deal worth 35m euros (£30m) for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, in a move that would end a long-running pursuit of the England international.

Back in June, Liverpool knocked back a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) from the Italian champions, holding firm to a valuation of around £35m for the 25-year-old, who is now into the final year of his contract at Anfield. That stance has not softened, but the numbers have started to align.

The current expectation is that a package totalling about £30m will be enough to trigger an agreement between the clubs. Sources in Italy believe a verbal understanding is already in place. Both clubs, though, insist that key details still need to be ironed out before anything is signed.

Liverpool are prepared to sell Jones, provided the structure of the deal reflects the £30m outlay Inter committed when they brought Djed Spence in from Tottenham. That benchmark has framed the negotiations and given Inter a clear target.

This is not a sudden move from the Serie A side. Inter tried to prise Jones away in January with a loan offer that included an option to buy. Liverpool rejected that proposal, unwilling to lose a homegrown midfielder on what they viewed as cut-price terms.

Jones has been a Liverpool first-team presence since his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019, racking up 228 appearances in all competitions. Last season he featured 49 times, yet only 18 of those came as Premier League starts, as he struggled to nail down a consistent role in Arne Slot’s midfield.

Now, with one year left on his deal and Inter pushing hard, Liverpool face a clear decision: cash in on a long-serving academy product, or risk losing him for far less down the line.
