Hull City Pursue Six New Signings for Premier League Rebuild
Hull City’s summer is accelerating. Fast.
Club correspondent Barry Cooper reports that the Tigers are weighing up as many as six further arrivals before the window closes, with owner Acun Ilicali and head coach Sergej Jakirovic intent on arming the squad for their Premier League return.
At the heart of it all is Fiorentina defender Niccolo Fortini. Hull have already moved for the Italian, and Cooper notes that as many as half a dozen more could follow him through the doors at the MKM Stadium.
Six-piece rebuild on the table
Hull are working on a broad sweep of positions: another goalkeeper, a midfielder, a winger and at least two forwards are on the shopping list as Jakirovic looks to deepen his options across the pitch.
One of the headline targets is Reims winger Keito Nakamura. Hull are understood to hold a strong interest in the Japan international, with reports in France claiming City have already made contact with his representatives. Nakamura is one of two names, along with Yeremay Hernandez of Deportivo La Coruna, added to what is described as the Tigers’ summer shortlist, with the pair valued at a combined £31m.
Hernandez, a highly rated wide player in La Liga, would add another injection of pace and direct running out wide. The intent is clear: Hull want more threat in the final third.
Wahi says no as Nice return takes priority
Not every chase is going Hull’s way.
Eintracht Frankfurt forward Elye Wahi has turned down the chance to join the Tigers, according to Kieran King. The 23-year-old moved to Frankfurt from Marseille for £25m in January 2025 but has struggled badly in the Bundesliga, scoring just once in 25 outings for The Eagles.
His loan spell at Nice last season told a different story. Nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 games helped keep the club in the French top flight, and that form has shaped his thinking. L’Equipe reports that Wahi is prioritising a return to Nice this summer despite approaches from Hull and Serie A side Lazio.
Hull move on. The need for goals remains.
Toure, Njinmah and the search for firepower
Attention has also turned to Norwich City forward Mohamed Toure. Hull have reportedly joined the race for the Australia international, with journalist Rudi Galetti claiming that Porto are also in the hunt.
Toure fits the profile Hull are chasing: young, mobile, capable of playing across the front line. Talks are exploratory, but the Tigers are clearly determined to strengthen their attacking core.
In Germany, Werder Bremen’s Justin Njinmah has emerged as another target. Sport Bild report that Hull are battling Fiorentina and Southampton for the 25-year-old winger, while Marseille are also monitoring the situation. No fee has yet been disclosed, but the level of interest underlines how competitive this deal could become.
Fortini talks and a rejected bid for Pedersen
At the back, Hull’s interest in Niccolo Fortini is described in Italy as “serious”. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that City are in talks with Fiorentina over a loan move that would include an option to buy. Other Italian outlets have gone further, suggesting a deal is “close”, though negotiations remain ongoing.
There is also a push for Torino’s Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, identified by Barry Cooper as a key target. Hull have already seen a €5m (£4.3m) bid rejected for the Norway international, who impressed for his country at the World Cup earlier this summer.
Pedersen, naturally a right-back but capable of operating higher up, is viewed as an important piece in Hull’s Premier League puzzle. Torino are holding firm for now, yet Hull’s interest has not cooled.

Hull City have made their intentions plain: survival is not the only aim. The question now is how many of these ambitious moves they can actually drive over the line before the window slams shut.
