Hull City Nears Loan Deal for Roma Starlet Robinio Vaz

Hull City are pushing hard to land Roma forward Robinio Vaz, with the newly-promoted Premier League side closing in on a season-long loan that could turn into a €30m permanent deal.

Respected reporter David Ornstein of The Athletic says Hull are close to an agreement with the Serie A club for a loan worth €2m, with an option to buy set at €30m. For a club just back in the top flight, that is a serious statement.

For Roma, it would be swift business. They paid Marseille €25m for the 19-year-old only a few months ago in the winter window. Should Hull trigger the option, the Italian side would bank an immediate profit on a player who has barely had time to unpack in Rome.

Vaz arrives with numbers that explain the interest. He hit four goals and two assists in 14 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille at the start of the 2025-26 season, earning his move to Roma midway through the campaign. Game time in Italy proved harder to come by, but he still added another goal from 12 Serie A outings, all of them from the bench.

At Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in February, the teenager cut a frustrated figure as Roma struggled against Napoli. A month later at the Stadio Olimpico, he was the one celebrating, on the scoresheet against Lecce and mobbed by teammates. That contrast sums up his first year at the top level: flashes of promise, limited minutes, and the sense that there is much more to come.

Roma’s wider situation gives the deal extra edge. There were strong suggestions earlier in the summer that financial fair play pressure would force them into major sales. Yet, heading into the final week of the Serie A window, their big names remain. Manu Kone, Wesley and Matias Soule are all still on the books.

So Roma may see Vaz as the compromise: a sale that eases the accounts without touching the established core. For Hull, it is the opposite. This is a swing at upside, a young attacker with resale value and the talent to change games if he settles quickly in England.

If the deal goes through and Vaz explodes in the Premier League, that €30m option will look less like a gamble and more like the price of getting in early.
