Ferran Torres Nears PSG Move as Barcelona Facilitates Departure
Ferran Torres edges ever closer to Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona’s latest move has effectively cleared the runway for his departure.
An initial agreement between Barça and PSG over the Spain international is already in place, with the last few hours dominated by frantic negotiations. Offers, counter-offers, tweaks to clauses and figures – all of it has now crystallised into a framework both clubs can live with.
The clearest sign came at the training ground.
Barcelona open the door
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona allowed Torres to skip training again on Thursday morning, the second consecutive session he has missed. He was due back with Hansi Flick’s squad on Wednesday, but instead the 26-year-old is finalising his switch to PSG, with the full blessing of a club that is negotiating his exit while he stays away from the group.
That kind of leeway is rarely granted unless the end is in sight. Barça are not just tolerating the absence; they are facilitating it.
While Torres edges toward Paris, the rest of Flick’s squad continues to take shape.
Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal all reported for Wednesday’s session, bolstering the first-team group. Pedri Gonzalez stayed inside, working in the gym and avoiding any work on the pitch as he manages his own fitness and workload.
Futures in limbo
Lower down the pecking order, uncertainty reigns.
Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Jofre Torrents, Toni Fernandez and Gerard Martin are all training away from the main group as they wait for clarity on their futures. For them, the market is not an abstract concept; it dictates where they train, who they train with, and whether they are even in Flick’s plans. Right now, it is a complicated and delicate situation.
There is still a sizeable reserve contingent under Flick’s command, at least for the moment. Goalkeeper Aron Yaakobishvili remains with the squad, even as he edges close to a move to Almeria. Centre-back Alvaro Cortes, right-back Xavi Espart and left-back Jordi Pesquer are also involved, along with midfielders Ibrahima Toncara, Aurin Gorin and Brian Farinas, and striker Hamza Abdelkarim.
They train, they wait, and they watch one of the bigger dominoes – Ferran Torres – prepare to fall.
