Ethan Nwaneri Set to Leave Arsenal for Regular Football

Ethan Nwaneri is edging towards the Arsenal exit before the close of the summer transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the highly rated teenager is expected to leave the club in search of regular football.

The 19-year-old, long regarded as one of the brightest talents in Arsenal’s academy, has serious admirers across Europe. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have both been linked with him, while AC Milan are also understood to be tracking his situation closely as they weigh up a move.

On Sunday, the picture became a little clearer. Arsenal swept aside Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield, but Nwaneri was nowhere to be seen. Not on the pitch. Not even on the bench. For a player of his profile, that omission spoke loudly.

Mikel Arteta’s words before kick-off only underlined the direction of travel. The Arsenal head coach made it clear that the club cannot simply keep Nwaneri around without a clear pathway to minutes.

“I want him to be at the club, but in the middle, long term, what is best for the player? Ethan needs to play football, and if he stays here, it's because we can guarantee that he can have those minutes. Otherwise, it's just something that is not good for anybody, I think,” Arteta said.
