Djed Spence Set for Move to Inter Milan
Djed Spence’s future is edging away from north London – and towards the San Siro.
The Tottenham full-back, once tipped as a potential target for Arsenal, is now firmly locked on a move to Inter Milan, with the Italian giants pushing to close a deal.
“Spence is a better player than Gomez”
Interest in Spence has never been short. One admirer made that crystal clear, insisting: “Now he would be a player of interest. If it’d be Liverpool then I’d want big money for him. I would want a lot of money for him. They took the boy Joe Gomez, who was a South London boy, but Spence is a better player than him.”
High praise, and a high valuation to match. But the market is starting to move.
Inter step on the gas
Arsenal have not made a move. They have not seriously looked to strengthen in the wide defensive areas this summer, and there has been no sign of concrete interest from the Emirates.
Inter, by contrast, have acted.
The Serie A side have opened club-to-club talks with Tottenham and, crucially, Spence is understood to want the move. That desire has helped shift what had been a stand-off over price earlier in the window.
The two clubs were some distance apart in their valuations, but the gap is narrowing. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are closing in on an agreement worth around €30 million (£25 million) plus bonuses.
That figure sits below what Tottenham had long hoped to bank for the Englishman. Yet with the player pushing for the switch and Inter willing to structure a deal with add-ons, Spurs are softening their stance.
Arsenal twist unlikely
Could anyone hijack it? On current evidence, it would take a dramatic change of course.
A late swoop from Arsenal would rank as a major shock. The Gunners have shown no real appetite to enter this particular race, and any move across north London feels remote at best.
For now, all roads point to Milan. Unless the conditions change sharply, Spence’s next chapter looks far more likely to be written in black and blue than in red or white.
