Djed Spence Set for Inter Move: Medical Scheduled

Djed Spence is closing in on a move to Inter, with the England international expected to touch down in Italy tonight ahead of a Friday medical that will seal a deal worth up to €35m from Tottenham Hotspur.

Inter and Spurs finally reached an agreement this week after drawn-out talks, settling on a fixed fee of €31.5m plus bonuses that could push the total to €35m. Tottenham have also secured a 10 per cent cut of any future sale as part of the package, protecting their long-term interest in the 24-year-old.

Bags packed, Milan next

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Spence has already packed and is due to land in Milan this evening. He will spend the night in a hotel before a full round of medical tests on Friday.

Those checks will come in two stages: first with Inter’s own medical staff, then with specialists from CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee, as required by Italian regulations. Only once he passes both can the paperwork be completed.

The contract is ready. Spence is set to sign a five-year deal, believed to be worth around €2.6m per season plus performance-related bonuses, a significant commitment from the Serie A champions and a clear statement about the role they see for him in Simone Inzaghi’s squad.

A familiar number, a fresh start

One detail already seems decided. Spence is understood to have chosen the Number 24 shirt, a number that will resonate with Inter fans who remember it on the back of another former Tottenham player, Christian Eriksen.

From World Cup nights in Atlanta and training sessions in Kansas City with England to the glare of San Siro, Spence now stands on the brink of the biggest club move of his career. The flight to Milan is short. The step up in expectation will be anything but.
