Dan Bentley Aims High After Joining Coventry City
Dan Bentley has wasted no time spelling out his ambitions after completing his move to Coventry City, describing the club as the perfect fit for the next stage of his career and vowing to drive standards in the dressing room.
The experienced goalkeeper, speaking to the club’s official channels after the deal was confirmed, cut a confident figure as he reflected on joining what he sees as a club on the rise.
“Coventry City is a fantastic club and I'm really happy to get this deal over the line,” Bentley said, clearly energised by the challenge ahead.
He spoke of walking into a club still buzzing from last season’s progress, a place he believes is braced for another push.
“It feels like a place that is developing and, off the back of a fantastic season last year, there is a really good feel around the place. It is really positive and there is an obvious excitement to go into the new season with the aim of being as successful as possible.”
Bentley arrives not just as another option between the posts, but as a senior figure determined to shape the culture around him. He stressed that his value will be measured in more than saves and clean sheets.
“I will bring a lot of experience. I'm a senior player with good leadership qualities and I'm someone who has really high standards. I want to make my mark on the pitch as well, of course.”
Competition will be fierce. Coventry already boast a strong goalkeeping department, something Bentley acknowledges and welcomes.
“There is a really good goalkeeping group here. When I get my opportunity, it is down to me to take it.”
That opportunity, he insists, must feed into something bigger. His target is clear, his language unapologetically ambitious.
“I want to help the club get results in the Premier League.”
For Coventry, that is the kind of mindset they will want echoing around the training ground as a new season looms.
