Curtis Jones Leaves Liverpool for Inter Milan's English Revolution

Curtis Jones has closed the book on a 16-year Liverpool story and opened another at San Siro, becoming the latest Englishman to walk through Inter Milan’s doors in a summer that is starting to look like a statement.

The 25-year-old midfielder has signed with the Italian champions until 2031, Inter confirmed on Friday, in a deal Italian reports value at €35 million for the Reds academy graduate.

For Jones, it is more than a transfer. It is a break with a lifetime’s routine.

“After a lifetime with Liverpool, the midfielder leaves his home country for the first time,” Inter announced, framing the move as “a new, incredible adventure — one he can approach with the confidence that has accompanied him throughout his life.”

Jones said his goodbyes on Instagram, the emotion clear in a few sharp lines.

“After 16 years, it's time to say goodbye,” he wrote. “I came here as a kid with a dream of playing for Liverpool and I've been lucky enough to actually live that dream. Liverpool will be a massive part of me.”

He departs Anfield having climbed every rung of the club’s ladder, from academy hopeful to first-team midfielder, and now to a marquee export for the Premier League side.

Inter’s English influx

Jones is not walking into an unfamiliar dressing room. He is the third Englishman to sign for Inter in as many weeks, following right-back Djed Spence and centre-back John Stones, who arrived after his contract at Manchester City expired. All three have penned deals running to 2031.

For a club that, across its illustrious 118-year history, had previously fielded only three English players, the shift is striking. That number has doubled in a matter of months. Inter now have six Englishmen on their books, with Jones the latest piece in a clear strategic push.
