Curtis Jones Completes Emotional Move to Inter Milan
Curtis Jones has drawn a line under a 16-year Liverpool story, sealing a move to Inter Milan in a deal worth around £30m and bringing an emotional close to one of the club’s longest modern journeys from academy to first team.
He joined Liverpool’s youth ranks as a boy. He leaves as a 25-year-old father, a Premier League winner, and a player with more than 200 senior appearances and six major trophies behind him, including two league titles.
“I came here as a kid… I’m leaving as a man”
In a heartfelt message posted on social media, the midfielder tried to wrap 16 years into a few paragraphs.
“After 16 years, it's time to say goodbye,” he wrote. “I came here as a kid with a dream of playing for Liverpool, and I've been lucky enough to actually live that dream.
“This club is all I've ever known. I came here as a kid and I'm leaving as a man with a family of my own, which probably puts into perspective just how much of my life I've spent here.”
The note read less like a standard farewell and more like a life chapter closing. Jones talked about milestones on and off the pitch blending into one long memory.
“So much has happened during my time here, both on and off the pitch. I've made my debut, won trophies, made memories I'll never forget, and I've become a dad.
“Having my daughter while I've been here makes it even more special because Liverpool isn't just part of my story anymore, it's part of my family's story too.”

Jones made a point of looking beyond the headlines and the highlights. He namechecked the people who rarely get the spotlight but shape careers from the shadows.
He thanked academy staff who first took him in, the coaches who pushed him on, and the countless workers behind the scenes at Anfield who form the fabric of the club’s daily life.
Then he turned to the dressing room.
“To all the lads I've shared a dressing room with over the years, thank you. I've played with some unbelievable players and made friendships I know I'll have for life,” he said.
The supporters, though, clearly sit at the heart of what Liverpool has meant to him.
“Thank you to the fans that stuck by me and always supported me. I will always be one of you.”
A new chapter in black and blue
Now comes Inter Milan. A different league, a different language, a different kind of pressure.
“Now it's time for a new challenge and a new chapter for me and my family, and I'm excited for what's ahead,” Jones wrote, framing the move not as an escape, but as the next natural step for a player who has already packed a lot into his mid-20s.
He made sure to leave no doubt about where Liverpool stands in his story.
“But Liverpool will always be a massive part of me. I came here as a kid with a dream and I'm leaving having lived it.
“So genuinely, to everyone who has played any part in my 16 years here, thank you. I'll never forget it.
