Crystal Palace Sign Axel Disasi on Loan from Chelsea

Crystal Palace have moved to bolster their back line, bringing in France international Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea.

The 28-year-old centre back arrives at Selhurst Park after a stop-start spell at Stamford Bridge, where he made 61 appearances following his move from Monaco in 2023. Chelsea have now sanctioned another temporary switch, with Palace stepping in to take advantage.

Disasi spent last season on loan at West Ham United, featuring 14 times in the Premier League. That stint kept him sharp in England’s top flight and ensured his name stayed in the conversation whenever defensive reinforcements were discussed.

Now he crosses London again, this time to a club he believes is on the rise.

"I'm very happy. The club has been going in a very good direction, so I think it was the right place for me to keep going," Disasi said in a statement, underlining the appeal of Palace’s recent progress.

Disasi’s résumé carries genuine weight. He was part of the France squad that reached the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, training and competing in one of the most intense environments in the sport. That experience, combined with his Premier League minutes at Chelsea and West Ham, gives Palace a defender with both pedigree and familiarity with the division.

For a club intent on pushing higher up the table, adding a World Cup finalist in his prime is a clear statement about where they expect their season to go.
