Como reshape squad: Morata leaves, Van der Brempt to Sassuolo

Como are tearing through the final days of the transfer window, trimming and retooling a squad that now has Champions League nights on the horizon.

The first big move is official. Alvaro Morata has left the Lariani for Leganes, joining the Spanish side on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. A short stay on the lake, a familiar return to Spain, and crucial room freed up in Como’s attack.

Van der Brempt to Sassuolo

The clear-out doesn’t stop there. Ignace Van der Brempt is set for Sassuolo, with multiple outlets, including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, confirming an agreement. It’s a loan with an obligation to buy, a total package valued at €6.5m. For Sassuolo, it’s a calculated bet on a dynamic wide option; for Como, another significant piece moved on as they reshape the squad.

Sassuolo had also been tracking Rafik Belghali from Hellas Verona, but the winger now appears to be edging towards Torino, shifting their focus firmly onto Van der Brempt.

Ricci's Arrival

While two players head for the exit, one arrives at the door. Milan midfielder Samuele Ricci turned up today to undergo his medical with Como, a key incoming move as the club tries to add control and quality in the middle of the pitch.

The deal is structured as a loan at €1.5m, with an option to buy for a further €22m plus performance-related bonuses at the end of the season. Significant numbers for a player Milan themselves treated as a major investment only a year ago, when they brought him in from Torino for €23m plus bonuses.

Ricci’s time at Milan never truly caught fire: 34 appearances, one goal, flashes of his potential but no guaranteed starting role. At Como, with European football looming and a squad being aggressively fine-tuned, he now walks into a very different scenario.
