The club triggered a £30m release clause to sign the striker from Ipswich Town 12 months ago, but patience has thinned after a difficult first campaign in west London. Alonso unconvinced as reshuffle gathers pace
Delap’s prospects under Xabi Alonso already look bleak. Pre-season has offered little encouragement, with the forward failing to make a convincing impression as the new head coach assesses his attacking options.
Alonso is in the middle of a broader reset of his front line.
