Beşiktaş Dominates Marseille 4-1 in Europa League Opener

Beşiktaş hit four past Marseille to launch their UEFA Europa League campaign in style, sweeping to a 4-1 win in Istanbul and laying down an early marker in Group action.

Beşiktaş were enjoying themselves now. On 68 minutes, Fakili almost produced the goal of the night, curling a gorgeous effort that beat De Lange but crashed against the crossbar. It was a warning that the Turkish side had no intention of simply protecting their lead.

The fourth goal eventually arrived in the 81st minute and sealed a statement victory. Poku finished off a flowing move that began with Vlahovic and ran through Olaitan, who supplied the final pass. Poku did the rest, setting the final score at 4-1 and underlining Beşiktaş’s dominance.

One match into their Europa League journey, Beşiktaş have three points, four goals and a performance that will echo around the group. Now the question is whether they can keep this ruthless edge when the stakes rise later in the campaign.
