Bayern Munich to Make Michael Olise Highest-Paid Player

Bayern Munich are ready to put their money where their mouth is over Michael Olise.

The German champions want to hand the French winger a new contract that would make him the highest-paid player at the club, according to French outlet L'Équipe. That’s despite his current deal already running until 2029.

Bayern build around their new star

Olise, 24, has rapidly become one of Bayern’s standout performers since his arrival from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. Electric on the ball and decisive in the final third, he has forced his way into the heart of the club’s long-term planning.

Inside the club, they see him as a cornerstone for the next era. The hierarchy are prepared to dig deep financially to keep him in Munich and shut down any talk of a swift move away, even with the player long linked in the past to dreams of joining Real Madrid.

For now, those dreams are on hold. Olise is expected to stay in Germany for at least another season, with Bayern intent on wrapping up an agreement that reflects his new status in the squad.

Kompany connection and a new role

L'Équipe report that Olise has found what he considers the perfect environment at Bayern. A big part of that is his relationship with coach Vincent Kompany, who has helped elevate his game and given him a central role in the attacking structure.

Under Kompany, the Frenchman has not just settled; he has grown. That bond is one of the driving forces behind Bayern’s determination to reward him and lock him in for the foreseeable future.

Any new deal, though, is likely to look very different from the one he signed on arrival. The first contract did not include a release clause. This time, if the two sides reach an agreement, a clause is expected to be written in, setting the terms for any future exit.

A new king of the wage bill

To make Olise the club’s top earner, Bayern will have to go above some serious numbers.

As of April 2026, Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala sat at the top of the wage ladder, each earning around 2.1 million euros per month. Behind them came Manuel Neuer on 1.75 million euros, with Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano both on 1.66 million euros.

For Bayern to push Olise beyond that bracket would mark a clear shift: the club moving from rewarding established icons to building financially and tactically around a winger who has only been in Munich since 2024.

If they follow through, it won’t just be a pay rise. It will be Bayern Munich nailing their colours to Michael Olise’s mast for the years ahead.
