Barcelona's Transfer Updates: Cancelo and Rodri Join
Barcelona’s transfer machine did not slow down on Tuesday morning. It simply rolled on to the next arrivals.
After a frantic 24 hours in Catalunya, the club’s offices and training base turned into a revolving door for new faces. With deals for Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi already in place, Barcelona pushed ahead with the next phase of their rebuild under Hansi Flick.
This time, the focus was on experience and control.
Cancelo and Rodri arrive for medicals
João Cancelo and Rodri reported to the club’s facilities on Tuesday, stepping into the Ciutat Esportiva for their medical examinations as Barcelona closed in on their third and fourth major signings of the summer.
Both agreements have been put in place, with the pair now on track to be officially unveiled as part of Flick’s first-team squad in the coming days. The timing is no accident. Barcelona open their La Liga campaign against Elche on Sunday, and the club want both players available for selection as soon as possible.
Cancelo, the defender whose future has been a talking point across Europe for months, was filmed arriving, with Diario Sport capturing his entrance. A short while later, Mundo Deportivo picked up Rodri’s arrival, the midfielder heading in for his own round of scans and checks.
It capped a whirlwind spell of business in Barcelona: Gordon and Adeyemi through the door, Cancelo and Rodri now following, and Flick’s squad taking shape with a clear intent.
The medicals are routine. The message behind them is not. Barcelona are loading up early, and Elche on Sunday might be the first to feel it.
