Barcelona Targets Tottenham's Pedro Porro for Defensive Reshuffle

Barcelona are already moving the pieces for a possible defensive reshuffle, and the first call has gone to north London.

According to reports in Spain, relayed by the Metro, the Catalan club have opened talks with the camp of Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro as they prepare for the possibility of losing Jules Koundé, with Arsenal monitoring the Frenchman’s situation.

Gerard Romero revealed on his YouTube channel that Barcelona have stepped up their efforts in recent days, pushing hard in conversations with Porro’s representatives and even putting an initial proposal on the table for his agents to assess.

Koundé, however, is not agitating for a move. He has shown no desire to leave, and his future remains unresolved rather than decided. That grey area has been enough for Barcelona to act now rather than wait for the market to dictate their options.

Porro’s profile explains why he sits near the top of their list. At 26, he has grown into one of Tottenham’s standout performers, a full-back who offers as much going forward as he does in defensive structure. He also started the majority of Spain’s matches during their run to winning the last World Cup, underlining his pedigree at the highest level.

Tottenham moved to secure that value early. Porro signed a new contract in June, tying him to the club until 2031, and he enjoys the full backing of coach Roberto De Zerbi, who has publicly underlined his importance and highlighted his ability to influence games at both ends of the pitch.

That blend of reliability and flexibility is exactly what attracts Barcelona. Porro can operate in multiple roles across the back line, giving tactical cover at right-back and in more advanced or tucked-in positions. If Koundé does eventually walk through the exit door, Barcelona want a defender who can cover the cracks immediately.
