Barcelona's New Signings Ready for La Liga Opener Against Elche

Club sources, via SPORT, are increasingly confident that every major summer signing will be fully registered in time for Sunday’s La Liga opener against Elche, easing fears of another late-summer scramble at the offices.
The registration process, which starts today (Thursday), gives Barcelona a narrow but manageable window to push through the final administrative steps before Hansi Flick names his first league squad as Barça coach.
Flick expects full arsenal for Elche
Inside the club, the plan is clear: Flick should have all of his new first-team reinforcements available at the weekend.
Barcelona are currently operating under La Liga’s 1:1 rule, a far more comfortable scenario than in recent seasons. It allows the club to register new arrivals as long as each operation is backed by sufficient sporting and financial guarantees, instead of the tighter restrictions that previously forced last-minute maneuvers and salary gymnastics.
That doesn’t mean it’s just a case of sending names to La Liga and waiting for approval. Every registration must be supported by documentation that proves the deal fits within the club’s economic framework. Barça want that work wrapped up well before kick-off, not in a frantic dash on deadline day.
Among the headline arrivals expected to be cleared are Rodri, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.
Rodri stands out as the marquee signing of the summer, joining from Manchester City on a deal running until 2030 and instantly reshaping the spine of Flick’s side. Gordon was the first operation Barcelona closed in this window, a move that set the tone for the rest of their business, while Adeyemi adds another injection of pace and directness in the final third.
Hamza Abdelkarim also features in the club’s planning after Barcelona activated their purchase option, reinforcing the depth available to Flick. Young prospect Jesse Bisiwu will be registered with the reserve team but is expected to remain closely tied to the first-team dynamic, training and integrating within the senior setup.
Cancelo and Christensen: the delicate files
Not every case is straightforward.
Joao Cancelo, the last of the new faces to arrive, is viewed as the most delicate registration. His late signing has left Barcelona with less time to process the necessary paperwork and adjust their accounts, making his availability for the Elche match the one genuine doubt.
The club still backs itself to get it done. There is confidence that outgoing deals and internal adjustments will create the room needed to complete Cancelo’s registration without a major hitch, but the margin for error is slimmer than with the others.
Another file that demands attention is Andreas Christensen’s. His situation, like Cancelo’s, is tied into the broader puzzle of squad cost and registration slots that Barcelona must solve before the season begins.
The clock is ticking, but this time Barcelona believe the signatures, stamps and approvals will align with the footballing plan. Flick’s first La Liga line-up should tell everyone if they were right.
