Arsenal's Agreement with Liverpool Prodigy Vincent Joseph
Arsenal have struck an agreement with highly rated Liverpool forward Vincent Joseph, stepping up their aggressive rebuild of the club’s youth ranks with another eye-catching raid on a Premier League rival.
The 16-year-old striker has agreed to join the north London side this summer, according to reports from The Athletic, with the two clubs now locked in talks over a compensation package.
Because of Joseph’s age, Liverpool are entitled to a fee despite his contract expiring. If the clubs fail to settle on a figure, a tribunal will set the amount – a familiar route in battles over elite teenage talent.
A ruthless finisher at youth level
Joseph only broke into u18 Premier League football last season, but he wasted no time making an impression. Two appearances for Liverpool’s u18s brought three goals, a sharp reminder of why he is regarded as one of the more dangerous young finishers in his age group.
The step up, though, didn’t persuade him to commit his future to Anfield. Instead, he has chosen a new path, with Arsenal now poised to benefit.
His form has translated onto the international stage as well. Turning out for England u16s in the 2025/26 campaign, Joseph has scored eight goals in nine games – prolific numbers at any level, let alone in the early stages of a youth international career.
Arsenal sharpen their focus on youth strikers
Arsenal’s academy department has been scouring the market for young centre-forwards across recent windows. They lost out to Liverpool in the chase for Will Wright last year, a setback that clearly stung.

Cardiff City defender Axel Donczew is expected to follow. He is the only one of the quartet who was not out of contract, which makes Arsenal’s pursuit of him an even stronger statement of intent. They are not just sweeping up free agents; they are actively targeting and prising away key pieces from other clubs’ academy structures.

Taken together, the signings of Joseph, Bernard, Upson and the imminent arrival of Donczew paint a vivid picture. Arsenal are moving quickly, exploiting stalled talks at rival clubs and reshaping their own youth setup with a cluster of carefully chosen additions.
For now, the final details remain. The Gunners still need to agree a settlement with Liverpool for Joseph and complete the formalities on Bernard and Donczew.
