Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan
Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and giving the Championship club fresh firepower on the left flank.
The 25-year-old joins from Fenerbahce on a straight loan, with the Turkish side agreeing to cover a proportion of his salary. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative deal until 2030, the numbers never stacked up for a permanent commitment.
This is a targeted move, not a luxury one. Norwich went back into the market after left winger Ali Ahmed suffered a serious knee ligament injury in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna, ruling him out for the long term and ripping a hole in Clement’s plans.
Musaba flew into England on Monday night, completed his medical, finalised personal terms and will wear the number 49 shirt. He becomes City’s fifth senior signing of the summer, joining headline £8m arrival Andre Brooks, who is set to operate on the opposite flank.
For Musaba, the pull of a familiar face in the dugout mattered.
“I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move,” he told the club’s official channels. “I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost.”
The pair worked together at Monaco, where Clement’s influence clearly left a mark.
“I remember him from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him,” Musaba said. “He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player.”
Norwich are banking on a player who already knows the division and its demands. Musaba previously featured in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday, delivering 23 goal contributions across 80 appearances for the Owls – solid numbers that hint at consistency as much as flair.
“I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then,” he added. “There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going.”
Inside the club, there is a clear belief that Musaba fits the template Clement wants from his wide players: aggressive, direct, and relentless.
City sporting director Ben Knapper did not hide his enthusiasm.
“I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City,” he said. “We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.
“He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically. We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets.”
With Ahmed sidelined, Brooks bedding in and Clement reshaping the attack, Musaba’s arrival is more than squad padding. It is a statement that Norwich intend to attack the season with pace on both wings – and that the reunion between coach and winger is expected to deliver, not just reminisce.
