Alisson Fined £8,000 After Anfield Incident

Alisson has been hit with an £8,000 fine for kicking the fourth official’s board in the tunnel area after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

The incident came at full-time on Saturday, with video footage later showing the Liverpool goalkeeper lashing out at the electronic board used to signal stoppage time and substitutions as he headed towards the tunnel.

Tension had been building long before he left the pitch.

Alisson, 33, had conceded a penalty during the second half, racing from his line as Liam Delap took a quick throw-in to Neco Williams, who went down in the box. Morgan Gibbs-White converted from the spot to give Oliver Glasner’s Forest a 2-1 lead and ignite Liverpool’s frustration.

That frustration deepened midweek. On Wednesday, the Key Match Incidents panel released its findings and ruled that the penalty should not have been awarded.

There had already been anger over the fourth official’s equipment. The board malfunctioned during the game when Liverpool tried to make substitutions at 1-1. The ball went out of play three times, but the changes still could not be made before Forest earned their controversial spot-kick from that rapid Delap throw to Williams.

An FA spokesperson confirmed Alisson had accepted a misconduct charge after it was alleged he “acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area”.

A bad decision, a broken board and a goalkeeper who let the anger show – and now, a costly reminder of how quickly the temperature can rise around a title-chasing side.
