Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United future has taken a fresh twist, and this one comes with cameras rolling.

The England forward, widely expected to be sold this summer after a turbulent spell away from Old Trafford, has been invited by United’s hierarchy to feature in the club’s upcoming Amazon documentary, a move that hints at a remarkable softening of stance from those in charge.

From Outcast to Centre Stage?

Rashford has not played a competitive minute for United since December 2024. Once the face of the club’s new era, he slipped to the fringes after a breakdown in relations with then-manager Ruben Amorim, triggered when Rashford made clear he wanted to leave his boyhood side.

That admission set off a chain of events. First a loan to Aston Villa. Then another to Barcelona. United, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe eager to trim a swollen wage bill, were prepared to listen to offers and move on.

Barcelona had an option to make the deal permanent for £24m. They walked away. No bid. No permanent switch. Just a forward in his prime, 28 years old, heading back to Manchester after a World Cup with England and staring at a future that remains clouded.

Yet now comes the invitation that changes the tone. United executives have asked Rashford if he wants to be part of “All or Nothing – Manchester United”, the fly-on-the-wall series being filmed in a multi-million-pound agreement with Amazon.

He has not given them an answer. He is still weighing up his next step. But the gesture itself is loud. Players the club is desperate to offload are not usually ushered into the spotlight of a global documentary. They are eased quietly towards the exit.

This feels different. It suggests United are at least open to the idea of Rashford being woven back into the story rather than cut out of it.

Cameras Rolling on a New Era

Filming has already begun. With some of Michael Carrick’s squad back at Carrington for pre-season, the cameras are in place and will remain there through to the end of next season, tracking a club trying to reassert itself at the top of the game.

Amazon had pushed for the same access last season, but Amorim blocked the project. His refusal underlined a more closed, guarded regime. That regime is gone. United now insist the documentary fits with a desire to be “as open and transparent as possible” with their vast global fanbase.

The promise is clear: unprecedented access to the Old Trafford dressing room and the Carrington training complex. Tactical meetings, raw reactions, the quiet corners where careers are rebuilt or quietly dismantled.

And that is where Rashford’s situation becomes so intriguing.

Several clubs are monitoring him. His age, pedigree and record mean there will be suitors. Yet his recent trajectory, the loans, the fall-out, and the sense of a player caught between eras at United, all feed into a complex decision for both sides.

For Rashford, the question is simple but brutal: does he still see his future at the club where he grew up, or is a clean break the only way to rediscover his best self?

The invitation to join the documentary does not answer those questions. It does, though, reveal that Rashford is no longer being treated as an afterthought.

When he returns from his summer break, fresh from a World Cup campaign, he will walk back into a club under the glare of Amazon’s lenses, with his next move still undecided and his every expression a potential storyline.

If he stays, he becomes part of United’s new public face, one of the central characters in a season laid bare for the world to see.

If he goes, the cameras will capture that too.

Either way, this won’t be a quiet exit or a low-key revival. Not for Marcus Rashford. Not at Manchester United.
