Preseason has not soothed anyone. Milan have yet to win a friendly and were dismantled 3–0 by Chelsea in Jakarta. Amorim has responded by demanding reinforcements, even after the headline $84 million signing of Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain. For a club of Milan’s stature, patience will be thin if this drift continues.

That Leeds game ended 1–1, extending an unbeaten preseason. The performances have looked coherent, the squad largely settled, and the mood around Carrick is quietly confident.

Beating Milan in Poland would be more than just another friendly result. It would be a symbolic full stop on the Amorim chapter.

Right now, one club looks joined-up. The other looks like it is still searching for itself.

Milan are a work in progress under Amorim, and the early signs have not convinced their fans or the local media. With new signings still bedding in and more changes being demanded, their preseason has carried a hint of turbulence.

United, by contrast, know roughly what they are. They have players returning from World Cup breaks, competition building in key positions, and a coach who appears to have the dressing room and the structure aligned.
