Kim Min-jae on Premier League Radar as Juventus Leads
Kim Min-jae has landed back on the Premier League radar – but the road out of Bavaria is anything but straightforward.
According to Bild football chief Christian Falk, the Bayern Munich centre-back features on Manchester United’s shortlist as the club weigh up defensive reinforcements. United’s interest is real, but they are not at the front of the queue.
That position currently belongs to Juventus.
The Italian giants are pushing hardest for the South Korean international, with reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming the 29-year-old has already given the green light to a move to Turin. The appeal is obvious: a switch to Serie A would reunite Kim with Luciano Spalletti, the coach under whom he produced his most dominant football at Napoli.
Juventus see that version of Kim – commanding, aggressive, unflustered in possession – as a cornerstone for their next cycle. They are acting like it.
United, by contrast, are watching the situation, waiting for an opening. Should Juventus fail to close the deal, the door could swing towards Old Trafford, where a reshaping of the back line is firmly on the agenda. At that point, talks over a transfer could gather pace.
There is a major caveat. A departure from Bayern is not inevitable.
Kim remains under contract with the German champions and, crucially, is understood to be comfortable with his current status as a squad player. He has not forced the issue, and Bayern are under no immediate pressure to sell.
So the picture is clear enough. Juventus lead, Manchester United lurk, and Bayern hold the cards.
The next move belongs to Turin.
