Jaissle Provides Positive Newcastle Injury Update

Newcastle United may have left Edinburgh nursing a 3-1 defeat to Everton in pre-season, but Matthias Jaissle walked away with at least one reason to smile: his injury list is finally starting to clear.

At the heart of it is Fabian Schär. The experienced defender has been out since January, a long absence that has stripped Newcastle of one of their calmest voices at the back. Now, at last, he is edging towards the end of the tunnel.

"He's on the way back now," Jaissle said after the game, sounding distinctly encouraged. The plan is clear: Schär should rejoin full team training in the coming days, with the possibility of minutes as early as the weekend if everything goes smoothly.

That alone would be a significant boost. But the news does not stop there.

Livramento and Miley close behind

Tino Livramento and Lewis Miley are also accelerating their recoveries, giving Jaissle hope that his squad will look far healthier by the time the serious football starts.

"A bit of the same, I would say, like with Fabian," he explained. The expectation is that both players can be folded back into team sessions shortly, and, like Schär, begin to pick up game time once they prove their sharpness.

For a side that leaned heavily on its depth last season and often found it stretched, the prospect of Schär, Livramento and Miley all returning to the grass with their team-mates in the same window feels significant. Pre-season minutes may be tentative, but they matter.

Transfers still on the agenda

While the medical room begins to empty, the transfer door is far from closed.

Jaissle made it clear he expects more arrivals before the window shuts, even if he has no interest in conducting that business in public.

"I will be always consistent with my approach," he said. "We handle these things internally, we are aware of what we need, and as you know, there's still some time."

The message is steady and deliberate: key players are on their way back, and reinforcements are still being lined up. The defeat to Everton will fade quickly; the real story for Newcastle is whether this growing squad can carry Jaissle’s ideas into a season that is starting to feel more loaded with possibility than with doubt.
