Deniz Undav Sets Deadline for VfB Stuttgart Contract Talks
Deniz Undav has set the clock ticking at VfB Stuttgart. The striker wants his future sorted before he boards a plane with Germany in two weeks – or contract talks are parked.
According to Bild, Undav has given the club a clear deadline: clarity by Tuesday, June 2. That is the day he flies with the national team to the United States for World Cup preparations. No agreement by then, and he intends to freeze negotiations so he can concentrate fully on the tournament.
Stuttgart know the stakes. They are preparing a fresh offer before the weekend, the report says. The current proposal on the table is already a hefty upgrade: an annual salary in the region of €5.5 million to €6 million, up from his current €4.5 million, plus a signing-on fee of €3 million.
For now, it is not enough.
Undav, one of the faces of Stuttgart’s resurgence, wants his new deal to reflect his status. The club, still mindful of its wage structure and long-term planning, is trying to find the line between reward and risk.
The ultimatum sharpens that dilemma. Stuttgart must now decide whether to stretch again to keep their attacking leader happy before he disappears into the World Cup spotlight – or hold their ground and risk watching his value, and perhaps his options, grow on the biggest stage.
