Bruno Guimaraes is expected to be unveiled as an Arsenal player on Friday after completing his medical, signing his contract and posing in the shirt that will define the next phase of his career. Jaissle’s candid admission
Newcastle’s new boss, Matthias Jaissle, did little to disguise the reality. The Brazilian’s departure, he admitted, was not his call to make.
“I met him quickly, but the decision was already made,” Jaissle said. “It was a nice conversation. He's a fantastic player and a great human being.
“It's tough, but for him now it's the next challenge and we need to deal with it at a later stage.
“We trust the players who are here already, but we will also see some changes.”
No grand stand-off. No late change of heart. Newcastle had already accepted that Guimaraes’ time at St James’ Park was over, the meeting with Jaissle serving more as a courteous handover than a last-ditch pitch.

Arsenal’s £75m statement
Arsenal are paying £75 million for that leap, a fee that underlines how central the 26-year-old is to their plans. He will sign a four-year deal running to 2030, a long-term commitment from a club that has methodically reshaped its core under Arteta and sporting director Edu.
This is not a speculative move. It is a statement of intent, a signing designed to push a title-chasing squad over the threshold and deeper into the latter stages of the Champions League.
The club have already started to stitch Guimaraes into the fabric. He is expected to take the number 39 shirt, a number that has followed him through Athletico Paranaense, Lyon and Newcastle.
