Bayern Munich's Victory Overshadowed by Musiala's Collapse in Leipzig Friendly

Bayern Munich’s 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig in Munich came with a jolt of anxiety, as Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer and Minjae Kim all failed to finish the match.

In sweltering temperatures, Musiala had just made it 3-1, capping an impressive display, when the Allianz crowd suddenly fell quiet. Only a few minutes after his goal, the Germany international collapsed to the turf with no opponent near him.

Ismael Saibari reacted instantly, sprinting towards his team-mate and managing to catch Musiala before he hit the ground. Joshua Kimmich also rushed over, urgently calling for help as concern spread through both sets of players.

Bayern’s medical staff charged onto the pitch and a stretcher followed, raising the tension further. The treatment took several minutes, with team-mates and coaches watching on anxiously in the heat.

Then came a measure of relief. Musiala slowly returned to his feet and, supported by the team doctor, made his way off the pitch. He did not return to the game.

After the final whistle, board member for sport Max Eberl delivered the first, cautious reassurance. An official medical report is still pending, but his message was clear enough: “The most important thing is that he’s doing well.”

The Musiala scare was not Bayern’s only setback.

Earlier in the match, Konrad Laimer pulled up after a challenge and immediately clutched his right thigh. He received on-pitch treatment but could not continue and was substituted, leaving the coaching staff with another fitness concern to monitor.

Minjae Kim also had to come off during the encounter, adding to a troubling injury list on a day that was supposed to be about rhythm, goals and pre-season optimism for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Bayern claimed the win. The performance had its positives. But as the players left the pitch, the real question lingered: what price will they pay for this friendly once the medical reports land?
