Arsenal Target Liverpool’s Young Striker Vincent Joseph
Arsenal are closing in on another raid of Liverpool’s talent pool – and this time it’s for one of Anfield’s most highly rated young strikers.
According to The Athletic, the Premier League champions have reached an agreement with England youth international Vincent Joseph, with the 16-year-old set on a move to north London. The clubs are now locked in talks over a compensation fee.
Arsenal move for Liverpool’s rising striker
Joseph, a prolific forward at youth level, has already made his mark on the international stage. He has eight goals in nine games for England’s under-16s and has stepped up to feature for Liverpool’s under-18s in the Premier League.
That progress put him firmly on the radar of top clubs. Arsenal have acted.
An agreement is in place between the player and the Gunners, leaving only the financial wrangling between the two clubs. Because Joseph is just 16 and has not signed professional terms, this is not a conventional transfer. It is a battle over development value.
Joseph’s schoolboy registration at Liverpool expired this summer. He chose not to sign scholarship terms at Anfield, opening the door for Arsenal to move and giving the striker the freedom to negotiate with other clubs.
Tribunal looms if clubs cannot agree

If the clubs fail to agree a figure, the case will go to a tribunal – the Professional Football Compensation Committee – a familiar route in disputes involving players under 24 who move before signing a first professional contract, or after one has expired.
That panel would then set the fee, weighing up a series of factors: Joseph’s age, his playing record so far, the length of time he spent in Liverpool’s system, the stature of both clubs, and the financial packages each side put in front of him.
It is a clinical process for what is, in reality, a very modern tug-of-war: elite academies fighting to stockpile the best teenage talent.
Champions keep building
Arsenal enter the new season as Premier League champions, but there has been no sense of easing off behind the scenes. Under Mikel Arteta, the club’s recruitment drive has stretched well beyond the first team, with heavy focus on strengthening the academy and pipeline.
Joseph’s impending arrival fits that strategy. Arsenal are not just shopping at the top end of the market; they are targeting the next wave as well, even if it means prising prospects away from domestic rivals.
Liverpool, for their part, have been busy reshaping their own squad as Andoni Iraola looks to chase down Arsenal at the top. The Reds have already brought in Spanish winger Victor Munoz and young French centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, while talks continue over Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
Yet amid that senior rebuild, they now look set to lose one of their brightest young forwards to the very club they are trying to catch.
