Arsenal Nears £10m Deal for Leicester Teen Monga
Arsenal are on the verge of landing one of the most coveted teenagers in English football, with a deal for Leicester City winger Monga now edging towards completion after weeks of tense negotiations.
For a long spell, the fee looked destined for a tribunal. Leicester, relegated to League One and under financial pressure, held firm on their valuation. Arsenal, wary of overpaying for a 16-year-old, pushed back. The stalemate dragged on, the clock ticked, and the prospect of lawyers and panels loomed large.
The breakthrough has finally come. Arsenal are now expected to reach full agreement on a package worth in excess of £10million to bring Monga to north London. The move is not yet signed off, but all sides anticipate it being wrapped up soon.

Monga made his Premier League debut under Ruud van Nistelrooy at just 15 years and 271 days in April 2025, an extraordinary vote of confidence in his ability. That appearance placed him third on the all-time list of youngest players in Premier League history, behind only Arsenal pair Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman – a quirk of the record books that now feels like a hint of what was to come.
Last season, he backed up the hype with substance. Monga featured 27 times in the Championship for Leicester, a remarkable workload for a player still in school age. He came off the bench against Preston last August to score his first senior goal for the club, becoming Leicester’s youngest-ever scorer in the process.
Those numbers, and that trajectory, explain why Arsenal have pushed so hard to get this over the line. They are not just signing a prospect; they are investing in a profile that fits the club’s future: fearless, technical, and already tested in senior football.
